No ship of the United States Navy has ever borne the name USS Nathan James, although the name is used for two fictional guided missile destroyers.

USS Nathan James (DDG-80) is the setting for the 1988 post-apocalyptic novel, The Last Ship.! r5 |# G' j1 o/ o8 P
USS Nathan James (DDG-151) is the setting for the 2014 T.V. show, The Last Ship, based on the book of the same name.
