  公元669年(唐高宗总章二年),闽中曾镇府年老乞休,又因泉(治今福州)潮州"蛮僚"啸乱,唐廷遣戎卫归德将军陈政更代,晋升陈政为朝议大夫,统岭南行军总管事,率府兵三千六百人入漳。此时,福建多为狂锋獠之地,百事待兴。入漳伊始,受尽劳累病苦。陈政所率唐军来到柳营江畔(今江东)扎营,并打退少数民族武装,进军盘陀梁山之下。后来,少数民族首领组织更大规模的狙击,陈政以众寡不敌退守九龙山(今九龙岭),且耕且守。同时,奏请增兵,朝命以陈政之兄陈敏、陈敷带领五十八姓军校南下支持。
5 |( P' h9 h. l! t& O3 Z8 Q  公元670年(唐咸享元年),陈敏兄弟奉母魏箴与年仅十四岁的陈元光同行。至须江县(今浙江省江山市)地,陈敏、陈缚不幸相继病逝。陈政迎其母,葬二位兄长于汉兴(今福建浦城),领众军校入闽会合。陈政采纳军咨祭酒丁儒之策,瓦解柳营江西少数民族武装,教化西北山峒的黎民,围歼少数顽固之敌于蒲葵关下,打通了南进的道路,于是,进屯梁山外的云霄镇。在边事稍有安息时,便建宅于云霄火田村居住。他曾经渡云霄江,指着江水对父老说:"此水如上党之清漳",因改云霄江名?quot;漳江"此即后来,以漳命州名的来由。- g6 G% c/ ?+ U; Z3 _! M  v
  公元677年(唐仪凤二年)四月,陈政病故于军中,享年六十二岁。公元1150年(南宋绍兴二十年,追封陈政祚昌开佑侯。
