在10艘DD的保护下，约克城号两次被同一ss命中，导致沉没，虽然事发时间已是白天，但是机队却无一生还，带走了60+的飞机，同时也带走了26名飞行员。
+ {- Q  ], ~: c) H由于年初一出门就被ss命中一次，在圣地亚哥做了初步修理后（留下20+20左右的critial伤），) x: s3 O: T2 v% }4 S. L+ E
打算开往西雅图做全面修理，除了本编队的6dd外，还有一4dd的反潜编队跟随，附近还有2个反潜编队在帮忙，旧金山的b25也在全部反潜，即便如此一ss依然摸到了约克城，而且是2次，都在白天，! d' h* c3 c( h3 e% ]. [
护航的dd形同虚设。

The “Brandenburg” company would assist by taking out British positions on the coast and along the Royal Military Canal as well as suspected artillery positions to the north.
