这个高空喷射气流算是西风带里面的，但是不是单纯的西风带，高空喷射气流大约在万米高空。

这个高空喷射气流的发现是在上世纪的20年代，发现时间并不长。最初是在上世纪20年代，由上述的那位搞气象的大石和三郎发现并做了详细研究。而德国搞气象的也相对独立的研究过。
