吕号作战Part2：奥西追击战，老天再次保佑盟军

潜艇部队虽然没有拦截到TF58，但在达尔文附近击沉TK多艘，因此日军猜测TF58的加油计划未能完成，极有可能去澳西的帕斯港口继续加油。此时日军的KB距离58约25格左右，因为有AO伴随，因此决定加油后油船返回，KB则继续追击，突入奥西海域。

2 {9 l u5 d, Y' h2 H6 R一路上日军使用很多AKL作为侦查舰，一路密切跟踪TF58的位置。相对的，盟军虽然知道KB在奥北，但并没有在澳洲西北部的诸多港口布置水上飞机侦查，根据日军掌握的情况，最后一次KB被发现是在12月29日达尔文以西10格左右，应该是被泗水的侦察机看到了。此后KB静默航行，直到42年1月1日，发起突袭的前一天，KB依然没有被发现，此时KB距离帕斯港口仅仅14格。

42年1月2日，KB到达了预定海域：距离帕斯6格的伏击地点。今天天气整体不错，仅有部分地区有小雨。随后侦察机发来报告：发现大量盟军舰队，包括TF58、大量油船、以及其它辅助船只。" S, }: j: L3 `8 Y3 O
其中TF58距离KB仅3格，可谓天赐良机！可惜南云忠一果然不给力，居然没有攻击58，而是选择了TK、DD等作为目标！: \ X, Z2 q2 B- l0 ]- v- x
