1941年12月15日,盟军取得重大战果,击沉金刚,重创榛名

当日夜间,Z舰队对古晋登陆场的金刚榛名舰队发动了奇袭,双方一共交战两次,依照夜战惯例,日军巡洋舰和驱逐舰发射了密集的鱼雷海,亲王和反击奇迹般幸存下来,分别和金刚、榛名捉对厮杀。原本有着日军炮击射术第一美誉的金刚编队此次大失水准,两轮战斗中被亲王反击狠狠教训了一通,金刚在首轮接战中即被命中14寸炮4发而重创起火,第二轮接战时更悲惨地沦为亲王的活靶,被命中10余次之多,天亮后在古晋外海沉没。榛名同样落于下风,其14寸炮仅1次命中反击且未能穿透装甲,反击号战斗结束时连火都没起,其15寸炮命中榛名共计6发,将其击为重创。幸好失速不大,天亮时仍能逃到250海里以外,估计仍有20节左右的航速。护卫舰的战斗呈现一边倒的态势,日军的5CA1CL把盟军的1CA2CL打得无力还手,半数被击沉或重创,余者皆带伤起火,Z舰队经此一役丧失了一半以上的实力,正退往巨港方向。. 12月15日战报

登陆安波尼亚的日军已经探明包括3个海军特别陆战队,凑巧原本打算增援jolo的澳新部队在这个海域,于是出现了两只敌对运输舰队同时登陆一个基地而又相安无事的怪事。暂时来说盟军战斗力146:126微弱领先。日军另外一支舰队本日登陆了肯达里,此二基地都有着足以封锁南洋与澳洲联系的机场,盟军已一支轻巡舰队前来袭击,预计明天到达肯达里。安波尼亚则集中了多达60架的亨德森,已成功击中3艘日军运输船。3 E; C- B0 [+ J/ o
