11月17日,帝国刚刚转场5个大队的疾风丙战斗机队进驻波纳佩以缓解持续的来自马绍尔的盟军轰炸,没想到紧接着第二天,就在波纳佩上空迎来一场硬仗,盟军由于战斗机队和轰炸机队脱节,被经验老道的日本飞行员抓住空子,全天共损失海军型解放者重型轰炸机将近50架之多,P47D25也损失30多架,另外损失海盗D10多架,日军损失疾风丙50多架,由于本地直掩,飞行员损失比较轻微,取得一场开门红

问题是只要前期日军不犯错,不被盟军偷掉KB,盟军陆机单独对日军陆机根本形成不了数量优势,如果多战场同时开战盟军的数量肯定不够

& T. |- @1 a7 R/ B4 Z% P, I2 r盟军太平洋舰队在硫磺岛战役失败仅仅一个月之后再整旗鼓,卷土重来,重新进攻之前惨败过的波纳佩岛,日军在波纳佩集结了2个师团又3个步兵联队的兵力迎接盟军的登陆,由于波纳佩是没有人数限制的大岛,没有登陆自动突击,因此,盟军登陆首日比较顺利,日军的岸炮和水雷起到了很大的效果,击毁击伤大量敌舰。
