包含4条CA在内的原ABDA舰队被用作诱饵诱奸日军KB的飞机，不过天算不如人算，日军天蝗派出了一队敢死舰队拦截盟军舰队，又有一艘日军潜艇打乱了盟军的阵型，导致ABDA在天亮时没有赶到指定位置，停留在科伦坡外海一格，远程CAP的盟军战斗机效率大减，全天只击落了100多架日军KB的精锐战机，但是盟军的4条CA全部沉没，同时沉没的还有2艘老型CL，一场到手的伟大胜利变成了一笔不合算的交易。
