盟军解放者4发机群在爪哇登陆后把矛头对转了巨港一带的日军航空设施，企图利用4发轰炸机的航程优势突袭日军防御力量比较薄弱的后方二线机场，不料遭遇日军同一日正好转场过来的3个战斗机大队，于是本来轻松惬意的偷袭变成了一场苦战，经过激烈的战斗，日军战斗机击落了多达60架4发轰炸机和十多架护航的闪电战斗机，同时自损17架战斗机，虽然盟军还是对机场进行了打击，但是显然得不偿失。

占领万鸦老南部一格的Sidate后，盟军部队还没来得及修起机场，就遭到日本航空部队的例行轰炸，鉴于附近暂时没有可以提供直掩的机场，盟军采取了从望加锡机场起飞远程直掩的办法企图拦截日军轰炸机，14日当天，在Sidate上空值班的海盗D机队遭遇日军新锐KI-83双发战斗机的长程扫场，由于盟军远程直掩，打成添油战术，被日军大破，帝国以10多架飞机的损失击落盟军超过40架海盗D。& Y/ C' T2 \* w4 ~2 a
